With so much going on in the world right now you might be forgiven for not thinking about water. Water is the giver of life most of us take it for granted running freely from our taps. We don’t worry about running out of water until it’s too late. Many people in the world and some on the west coast of America truly have to worry about water.
We used to think it was only Africa or India that had these problems. Now we see people in Australia lining up with a bucket to fill at a standpipe their only source of water for the family. I watched a Gardeners World program last summer and one family in Australia caught every drop of water from their roof in large storage tubs. They also had showers with buckets to catch water for the garden. It’s hard to imagine people in America doing this but on the west coast they may have to.
With climate change causing so much unusual weather the whole world needs to conserve water as much as possible.
I read an article in the New York Times about climate scientists threatening to go on strike because they spend their whole lives researching and producing data for governments to act on. But they feel not enough is being done and nobody is listening to them. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/01/climate/ipcc-climate-scientists-strike.html
This reminds me of that movie with Leonardo Di Caprio ,“Don’t Look Up” about a comet heading to the earth but nobody listens to the science: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11286314/
Let’s hope the world doesn’t end up like that! We must do more to stop climate change and conserve our water before it’s too late.
